This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
You will be joining us shortly in a PCSO role, and you will have now received the details of your upcoming employment. You can find lots of helpful information here, to learn more about our organisation and prepare for your first day.
Hello, I'm Chris Haward, Chief Constable of Lincolnshire Police, outside our Headquarters at the moment and just want to welcome you all to the force.
The very fact that you're watching this video means that you can't be far away from starting with us here in Lincolnshire police and I very much look forward to welcoming you onto our premises and into the fold of Lincolnshire police family.
I know this is going to be an exciting and nervous time for all of you, and for some it may have been a long wait as you've gone through vetting and checks and been offered that contract, but it's good to see you coming in, and, as I say very much welcome you into the fold.
You're joining absolutely fabulous team. I love being Chief Constable here and I will enjoy being a Chief Constable for the next few years. We do some remarkable things to keep our community safe and our mission is very much about making Lincolnshire the safest place to live, work and visit and that's by stopping crime and anti-social behaviour by protecting people from harm and helping those people who are most in need.
But that comes about by teamwork and effort by everybody and it doesn't matter what role you're coming into whether it's a PCSO or constable, whether it's somebody working in our File Preparation units or our HR departments, we are all here trying to do the same thing, which is to keep people safe and to make sure Lincolnshire police is the best place to work and that everybody who comes in to work for Lincolnshire police can be the best version of themselves and feel free and happy to be themselves whilst at work.
As your first day approaches, I know this is going to be a very nervous time for some of you and I know that some of you will walk through the doors with trepidation. We've all been there. Even I've been there, just under two years ago when I started started here as Chief Constable, it was a nerve-racking day for me to walk into a new building with new teams and new people to meet. So please don't feel alone in that - everybody's been through it and if you need help, speak up and ask for help because everybody will offer that help and we'll support you in doing it.
I thought it also might be helpful to let you know what will happen on your first day. Obviously those nerves are going to be there as I've said, but depending on which building you go to you'll either be met at reception, as is the case at Headquarters here or you'll be met at the front enquiry desk. You should be met by your team leader or line manager who will then take you round and introduce you to the rest of the team and give you a tour of the station or the department and the buildings that you're going to be working.
You should also be given your door passes and your warrant card or identity card depending on what role you're taking on. But what I'd say is please don't worry about it. You're not expected to jump in with both feet and be working at 100% on day one. That will come in time. But he first couple of days is really about settling in, getting to know people and getting to know your way around, so please don't worry about that. Just be you, be proud of who you are and be proud of what you offer. That is after all what we selected you for. So be confident and just bring yourself to work. Thank you for taking the time to listen to this. I look forward to seeing you in Lincolnshire Police and welcome to the organisation.
