The Code of Ethics underpins everything in policing and in public life. As a Police Service we are the guardians of public safety and human rights but with this comes extraordinary power and responsibility. It is essential we all behave and act in a way which inspires confidence and support from everybody we serve.
The standards of professional behaviour and policing principles are there to guide you in all you do, supported by our own force values. In recent times we have seen public confidence in policing rattled by the appalling actions of a very small minority.
Policing must maintain the highest standards in everything we do, whether on duty or off duty, and we must recognise the onus that is on us all to do this. If we can achieve this then confidence in policing will improve and policing by consent will be protected for generations to come.
The Code of Ethics guide will help you to understand what the standards are and your role in upholding these.
See more about the Code of Ethics.
Please ensure you read Your Health and Safety booklet before your start date.
