The Initial Training Course for PCSOs is 12 weeks in duration and covers the following subject areas:
You will also gain a valuable insight into community groups, partner agencies and identify how we can assist each other in our respective roles. You will have opportunities to apply learning in practical scenarios, some of which will be in community settings.
Core-policing skills will be developed as well as supporting knowledge and understanding.
This is undertaken on your District where you will be allocated a mentor PCSO. The mentored period is 10 weeks in duration.
Independent patrol is reached once you have demonstrated your ability to deal competently with a number of pre-defined actions from the PCSO Action Checklist (PAC).
