This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.

Abnormal loads are not allowed to travel in the Lincolnshire police force area:
A dispensation is a permission for an abnormal load to travel without having to notify us each time.
Please use our dispensation enquiry form to ask about our dispensations.
Depending on the size of your vehicle and which roads you're using, you may need to provide a private escort.
When you need a private escort:
| Road | Width | Length | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| A1 or A180 only | Over 4.3m | Over 30m | Over 130T |
| All other roads | Over 4.1m | Over 30m | Over 100T |
You might also need a private escort for smaller vehicles depending on the route, type of load etc.
We recommend you provide a private escort for any vehicle over 3.65m while travelling on single carriageways.
If you are providing a private escort, please tell us when you notify us.
You need a police escort if your load can't travel without:
If you need a police escort, please notify us as soon as possible (at least two weeks in advance).
You'll need to pay for a police escort. We'll tell you how much it will cost.
If you need to move an abnormal load at short notice (less than the required notice period) then you should phone the Abnormal Loads office to ask for permission on:
We cannot accept notifications more than 30 days in advance, or for periods of more than 30 days of movement.
This is so we have all the up-to-date traffic management information to decide if the route is safe.
It's your responsibility to complete a risk assessment before you move an abnormal load.
Please check the one.network website for closures along your route. Diversion routes may not be suitable for abnormal loads. If you can't travel on the route you've told us, you need to check with our abnormal loads team.
We recommend you call us on 101 half an hour before you set off or enter Lincolnshire, to make sure your route is not affected by any local problems.
North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire are covered by Humberside Police, not Lincolnshire police.
