Detective Constable - Major Crime Unit

We are inviting police officers from across England and Wales to transfer into our Major Crime Unit (MCU) department. 

Our MCU provide a collaborative approach to investigating murder and manslaughter across the East Midlands region. The team also supports partner forces with other major investigations, subject to operational demand and capacity.

We operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, delivering professional and timely major crime investigations while maintaining public confidence and securing the best possible outcomes for victims, their families and the wider community.

You will play a key role in supporting the investigation of the most serious and complex offences. You will be part of a highly skilled team committed to delivering high-quality investigations, working collaboratively with colleagues across the region to bring offenders to justice and protect the public.

Our MCU team operate from our station at Sleaford, Lincolnshire. 

We're currently welcoming applications from Detective Constable transferees to join our team with multiple intakes planned, the next of which commences early February 2027. If this intake does not align with your needs, please contact us to discuss further. 

To apply, candidates must already hold PIP2 accreditation and be ready to make an impact from day one. 

To support a smooth transition into Lincolnshire Police, we are also pleased to offer a Transferring Officer Relocation Expenses Package for eligible applicants. This package allows transferees to claim up to £8,000 towards the costs associated with relocating to Lincolnshire. 

Eligible expenses may include: 

• Removal and storage fees 

• Solicitor’s and estate agent fees related to the sale of your former home (against pre-agreed estimates) 

• Solicitor’s fees, estate agent fees, and stamp duty costs for acquiring a new property 

• Initial expenses for arranging rental of a previously owned property

• You must currently be serving as a Police Officer in a Home Office Force. 

• You should have successfully completed your probation period and be confirmed in post at the time of application. 

• Please include your last three years of appraisals. If you’ve recently been confirmed in post, submit your confirmation certificate along with your most recent performance reviews. 

• Your mandatory training (e.g. Fitness test to level 5.4, Personal Safety Training, first aid, driving qualifications) must be current and evidenced. A medical assessment and vetting process are also required before any offer is made.  

• You should not be subject to any unsatisfactory performance processes, active improvement plans, or live disciplinary warnings. 

• If you’re currently under investigation, or have an open complaint,  we kindly ask that you apply once the matter has been fully resolved. 

• While we welcome your preferred location choices, final postings will be based on operational demand.
