The Volunteer Police Cadets is the nationally recognised police uniformed youth group throughout England. It is open to teenagers from all backgrounds aged between 13 and 17.
Volunteer cadet leaders deliver and support the provision of the cadet programme to young people across the county, where cadets learn about different aspects of policing through classroom based activities and practical scenarios, are involved in community projects, and support police engagement events and activities. The Volunteer Police Cadets promotes equality of opportunity to the young people of Lincolnshire and seeks to encourage young people to become good citizens.
Roles and tasks may vary, but will include:
Prior experience in or knowledge of Police duties and tasks would be advantageous, although not essential.
Additionally, we are looking for people who are:
The role will be based at Boston, Bourne, Grantham, Spalding or Skegness Police Stations or Lincolnshire Police HQ in Nettleham.
Cadet sessions are held on Wednesday evenings during term times. There are also opportunities to join in with extra duties at other times. Cadet leaders are asked to attend sessions as regularly as possible.
Session attendance and hours completed are by mutual agreement between the volunteer and the other leaders, but to fit around the volunteer's commitments.
All volunteers receive a local induction and a volunteer handbook with all the information you will need to get started in the role. There is some mandatory on-line safeguarding training to complete and further training will be arranged to support you in the cadet leader role.
You will have the support of other cadet leaders, as well as the support of the Volunteer Team at Lincolnshire Police HQ who are there to help with any aspect of cadets.
Expenses will be paid for travelling between your home and the station where your chosen corps is based.
This role will require a security check (vetting) and DBS checks and for you to sign an agreement to maintain confidentiality, as you may have access to sensitive material.
