Community Scrutiny Panel Administrator Volunteer (Ref: 128)
Purpose
To support the administration of police facilitated community scrutiny panels and to support the independence of the panels, building on public trust and confidence.
The post holder will be an independent conduit between the police and the public, to support with the promotion and administration of scrutiny panels (in person, online and hybrid).
What you will be doing
Roles and tasks may vary, but will include:
- Support by preparing for panels and producing panel feedback or subsequent reports/recommendations
- Attend online or in person community scrutiny panels as an independent representative to police facilitators
- Assist with targeted communications to the community that aim to enhance diverse representation of panel participants
- Provide a public voice to the force community scrutiny panel leads (in addition to that provided by IAG members)
- Support with the administration of panel applications, monitoring applications and/or email queries
Skills, experience and qualities needed
- Ability to confidently engage with a diverse audience through verbal and written means
- Ability to develop strong working relationships within the community
- Familiarisation with Microsoft 365 and working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, including in particular MS Excel and Word
- Familiarisation with the demographics, community composition and diversity challenges of Lincolnshire
- Confidence in public speaking and ability to build rapport
- Able to use own initiative and work unsupervised where required
- Work with the force to represent the views of the public and demonstrate force values
- Organisation skills to prioritise own workload and work collaboratively within a team
Location and times
Lincolnshire Police Headquarters and other stations in the force area as required (roughly 1-2 days per month, this can be broken down to hours as required for the volume of work and may increase ahead of a panel or on launch of a request for public applications).
Remotely from home to attend online community scrutiny panels (expected quarterly for 2.5 hours on a weekday evening).
Training and support
All volunteers receive a local induction and a Volunteer Handbook with all the information you will need to support you in your role. A locla induction adn guidance around scrutiny panels will be provided by the EDI team and scrutiny panel leads.
Other information
- Expenses incurred as a result of the role will be paid at the relevant rate
- Volunteers must be over 18
- The role requires a security check (vetting)
- Volunteers are asked to sign an agreement to maintain confidentiality, as you may have access to sensitive material
