Your first day in a new job can be a daunting one. Here, we give you all the essential information you need for your first day so you can be as prepared as you can be.
You should bring with you:
You should arrive in your full police officer uniform. However, when travelling to and from training you should wear a coat or jacket over your uniform so that you are not identifiable as a police officer whilst off duty.
You should read our Appearance Standards before you start and adhere to it from your first day with us.
Your police officer training will be conducted at either Force Headquarters in Nettleham or Skegness. Your offer pack will detail which venue you will complete your training. This will be your base for the duration of your training.
The addresses are:
Lincolnshire Police Headquarters
Deepdale Lane
Nettleham
LN2 2LT
There is plenty of free staff parking available on site at Headquarters. The is also a bus route available from Deepdale Lane.
Skegness Police Station
Park Avenue
Skegness
PE25 1BL
There is no on-site parking at Skegness
On your first day you should report to reception at 8.45am.
You will be greeted by one of our trainers. They will give you a tour of the building, show you where the relevant facilities and toilets are and fire exits.
Your access card should be ready for you and be given to you by your trainer. You can use this card to enter your place of work. Depending on your access requirements, your card may be configured so you can access other police buildings too.
Your line manager (or nominated person) will introduce you to your colleagues and give you a tour of the building you work in to ensure you know how to find your way around. They will also show you where to find:
You can bring your own lunch. Fridges and microwaves are available to use in the training suite to store and heat food at both locations.
At Force HQ there is a canteen that is open weekdays from 8am to 3pm serving breakfasts, hot and cold snacks and lunch. There is no on-site canteen at Skegness but there are plenty of shops and cafes nearby.
Your email account, intranet profile and access to all appropriate IT systems should be set up for you ahead of your first day.
During your training you will be shown how to use all the relevant IT systems for the role of a police officer.
During the training period, your working hours are generally 8am to 5pm but that may vary slightly depending on the timetable.
As part of your role, you are required to book on and book off at the beginning and end of every working day. The reason for this is to ensure an accurate log of all time worked, to comply with working time regulations.
Your trainer will show you how to use the Book On, Book Off system and should be your first point of contact with any queries.
