PC Price is a response officer for Lincolnshire Police. With many specialisms under his belt, including being a taser officer, a drone officer and an underwater search diver, no two days are the same for PC Price. This is his story.
He said: “I originally was an IT manager and did that for seven years before I realised that I could do more, I can do something more interesting and something that challenges me every day, so I applied to be a police constable and I’m happy with my choice. I also had family and friends who were police officers, and they were my role models from an early age, so I always wanted to follow in their footsteps and join the job. I wanted a job that would challenge me, and where no two days would be the same.
“I enjoy being on response, but I also like the option of being able to go and do other things whilst on the job. I can be involved with larger events; I can be used for anything from the football to firearms deployment and I enjoy the variety this brings to my day. On top of my role on response, I am also a drone operator and an underwater search diver. Those are voluntary roles that I have agreed to do, and despite them taking up my rest days sometimes, I’m happy to give my time to do that and I’m happy to help.
“It’s a fun job, but it’s also a difficult job. It’s not like what you see on TV and there’s lots that go on in the background.
“If I was to describe the job in three words, it would have to be challenging, busy and rewarding.”
