Our established Apprenticeship Academy scheme provides exciting opportunities for anyone aged 18 and above to start a career in policing.
This apprenticeship is ideal for you if you are a school leaver and want to earn a salary whilst getting a formal qualification rather than going into further education or university, or for somebody who wishes to change career path and gain a recognised qualification in doing so.
Apprenticeships, unlike university or college, provide a mix of classroom and hands-on experience gained through real on-the-job mentor-led training. By the end of your Apprenticeship contract, you will have all the necessary skills and confidence needed to apply for a permanent role to progress your career even further and wider.
The scheme provides the opportunity for you to gain highly transferable knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours whilst studying for a Level 3 Qualification in Business Administration. Our Apprenticeship training programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration with our education training provider.
During the apprenticeship you'll be given the opportunity to work in a range of departmental placement settings in six-month blocks to provide you with a varied and interesting experience in policing. The apprenticeship will also include enrichment days such as working alongside specialist policing teams including the force control room, a ride along day with a response officer and attending police events. You will also gain additional qualifications in health and safety and First Aid, whilst learning what it takes to respond appropriately to challenges, opportunities, and how to adapt to change.
Some of the departments our academy apprentices have previously worked in include:
The 37-hours-per-week apprenticeship scheme will be run Monday to Friday for an 18-month duration.
