We are asking about your trust and confidence in policing.
As part of ongoing work to understand public trust and confidence in Lincolnshire Police, we are asking the people of Lincolnshire one single question.
Taking everything into account, how good a job are Lincolnshire Police doing?
You can answer this question on a star rating scale from 1 to 5. One star is very poor, and five stars is very good.
We hope that by asking this question, insight and feedback data will be returned, allowing us to understand how people are feeling about policing in Lincolnshire and adapt our service accordingly.
Assistant Chief Constable Di Coulson said:
“Having the trust and confidence of the public has always been important to us, but with high profile, national events in recent years, we are even more keen to understand how our communities feel. This isn’t a one-off survey, because trust and confidence isn’t something that is a one-off feeling; it will naturally rise and fall over time for a variety of reasons. We will look at the results throughout the year and they will allow us to understand how the public feel about Lincolnshire Police over periods of time. This will allow us to better understand where we may have a lack of confidence and enable us to better engage, understand and improve the service and confidence. This is really important to us as the original principles, set by Sir Robert Peel, of policing by consent, means that our legitimacy in the eyes of the public is based upon support for what we do, and the powers we have and exercise. Without that, we cannot do our jobs properly and deliver the high standard of policing that people in Lincolnshire expect and deserve. ”
Superintendent Pat Coates, who is the Lincolnshire Police lead for Trust and Confidence, said;
“We want to hear how feel people feel about the police in their area. This isn’t about individual officers or individual incidents; it is about the overall feeling you have in Lincolnshire Police. Even people who haven’t had direct dealings with the police will have formed an impression of what we do – and we want to hear it. The survey will be easy to access as eventually we want the QR code to be available at every “touch point” a person could have with the police – plus places where you will be able to give feedback from the comfort of your own sofa. It really is a seven second survey but its impact could be long lasting.”
