The Strategic Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Board meets quarterly to ensure that Lincolnshire Police works to improve Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for our officers, staff, volunteers, and the communities we serve. To enable a representative, inclusive and supportive force that recognises, respects, and understands the differences and needs of individuals and communities.
Board Objectives
- To make strategic decisions to support the EDI strategy and plan, advise on its implementation and progress and hold leaders to account for its progression and impact
- To set direction and ensure Lincolnshire Police meets its statutory responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty and monitor Lincolnshire Police response to this legislation
- To provide governance and scrutiny of the strategic direction and impact of EDI in Lincolnshire Police and help shape the forces EDI objectives
- To consider and advise on EDI implications of policy proposals and initiatives
- To consider areas of EDI where new and improved performance monitoring is required
- To co-ordinate action on issues arising from relevant reviews including His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services reports, College of Policing and National Police Chiefs Council standards
- To identify risks and opportunities and ensure they are acted upon, addressing any organisational inhibitors
- To act as a Champion of EDI within Lincolnshire Police and provide support for those taking forward actions
- To engage all stakeholders in shaping the agenda and provide an opportunity for challenge
- Identify and share best practice around EDI across the service
- To promote equality and diversity of thought, approach, and leadership styles, recognising that inclusion and diversity add to the wellbeing of the organisation and public
- Provide opportunity for staff network chairs to present views of those they represent, seek commitment on any initiatives they are looking to introduce and/or to support any challenges they are facing
