I am delighted to share this annual report with you. Policing is all about people - whether that be people within the community or people within our own organisation. For us to deliver the best possible service that we can, it is essential that people trust us and have confidence in us. They need to feel that we will treat them fairly, that we will treat them as individuals and that we will use our powers wisely. As well as celebrating our successes, we must have the humility to seek feedback and to learn when we get things wrong.
Through his strategy, the Chief Constable has demonstrated his commitment to ensuring that our Culture supports our people to be the very best version of themselves. This report outlines the activities that have been undertaken both internally and externally to develop our understanding around equality, diversity and inclusion. I hope that you will agree that we are making great progress. We have created a strategy and delivery plan to hold ourselves to account. We continue to support and encourage our internal networks and to develop greater reach into our communities so that we can further build trust and confidence.
I would like to extend my thanks to those who have contributed so far, and to those who will contribute in the year ahead.
Julia Debenham
Deputy Chief Constable
