The Chief Constable has adopted the following good governance standards for public services:
The Police and Crime Commissioner has approved an Integrated Scheme of Governance. This sets a framework under which the Chief Constable and other specific officers operate on a daily basis.
The Chief Constable has issued a Code of Corporate Governance to describe the governance arrangements, which is in Downloads below.
The Chief Constable undertakes an annual review in the form of the “Annual Governance Statement”. This is included within the Statement of Accounts.
Find out more about the Integrated Scheme of Governance on the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner's website.
The Joint Independent Audit Committee (JIAC) provides independent assurance to the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable regarding the adequacy of the risk management framework and the associated control environment. The JIAC also provides independent scrutiny of the Force’s and Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s financial performance and oversees financial reporting processes.
Please visit the Police and Crime Commissioner's website to find out more about the committee and to read the Joint Independent Audit Committee's annual reports.
