Our Force Control Room received a report of a serious sexual assault of a teenage girl in the Marsh Lane area of Boston just after half past midnight on Tuesday 17 March.
Local response officers were immediately dispatched along with armed response officers who located and arrested a 33-year-old man at The Lord Grey Hotel, Marsh Lane, Boston at 1.45am, where he was subsequently taken into custody for questioning.
James Savage, also known as Jay Savage, of Marsh Lane, Boston, has been charged with rape by penetration of the mouth of a teenage girl, child abduction, threats with a bladed article, and the taking of indecent images.
He is due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Thursday 19 March.
Detective Inspector Claire Rimmer, of Boston’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, who is leading the case, said: “This is an investigation into an alleged rape in the Boston area by somebody unknown to the victim. Incidents of this nature, while understandably alarming, are extremely rare in the county of Lincolnshire. However, thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of numerous teams a suspect was identified and apprehended within two hours of the initial report.
“We recognise the concern this incident may cause within our community, and we want to update that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this matter at this time.
“This investigation remains active, and we strongly urge the public to avoid speculation on social media and within group messaging apps to maintain the integrity of the judicial process."
Misinformation can have serious legal consequences and may hinder justice for all involved. We remind members of the public that all victims of any sexual assault are afforded lifelong anonymity. Anyone found to breach the right of these victims can and will be dealt with robustly.
