Grantham shoplifter given three year CBO

Benjamin Noddings, a shoplifter from Grantham, has been given an order banning him from entering retail premises in the town.

He was also given an eight-week sentence, suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay £376.30, given 20 recovery and rehabilitation days and six months drug rehabilitation requirement.

The three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) has been given to Benjamin Noddings, 46, to prevent him from offending in stores in the town, lasting for three years. Noddings, of Wroxhall Drive, Grantham, was given the order at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 19 February when he attended a hearing where he was convicted of five counts of thefts from various shops. He stole approximately £400 worth of products.

The conditions on the CBO prohibit him from entering any retail premises in Grantham or any Co-op in Lincolnshire, except for Morrisons and Gill Pharmacy for purposes of collecting essential medication and healthcare products.

Sergeant Lee Mayfield from Grantham's Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

"Criminal Behaviour Orders are an important tool that help us protect our communities from persistent offending.

"This order against Mr Noddings sends a clear message that repeated thefts and the impact they have on local businesses will not be tolerated.

"We will continue to work closely with retailers in Grantham to ensure the conditions of the order are upheld, and we encourage the public to report any breaches so we can take swift and appropriate action."
