A man who sent sexualised messages and graphic images to a 13-year-old girl has been jailed for two years.
Jack Trollope, formerly of Fairfax Street in Lincoln, had pleaded guilty to two charges at an earlier hearing ahead of sentencing at Lincoln Crown Court today, Friday, 21 March.
The 37-year-old admitted to engaging in sexual communication with a child and sending a photograph of his private area to cause alarm, distress or humiliation.
Trollope, who was already a registered sex offender when the offences took place, was remanded until he was dealt with today.
Court officials heard how Trollope evaded police for a week after he committed the crimes and was classed as a high-risk missing person, before handing himself in at Mansfield House Police Station in Leicester.
He made a full admission to officers in an interview, claiming he had been on a drug binge over the last week and couldn’t remember any of his actions.
Today, Trollope was sentenced to two years behind bars and handed a sexual harm prevention order. He was already on the sex offenders’ register.
He was given a 12-month sentence for the aforementioned offences.
This triggered the activation of a suspended sentence given to Trollope after he pleaded guilty to sending a photo or film of his private area to cause alarm, distress or humiliation in December.
It brings to a close an investigation involving Lincolnshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, which consulted with the CPS for charging advice.
DC Victoria Robbie praised the work of the team who helped bring Trollope to justice.
Case officer Bethany Wright said she hopes this punishment will serve as a warning to any would-be offenders.
She said: “I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in this investigation and helped compile the evidence to bring this case to court.
“Trollope sent inappropriate messages to his victim that no child should have to see.
“This behaviour has no place in Lincolnshire, and we hope this sentence acts as a deterrent to any would-be offenders.
“We hope this result gives some sense of closure to his victim.”
