Following a post-mortem examination carried out last night, we can confirm that the death of a 51-year-old woman is no longer being treated as suspicious.
The examination revealed medical issues and had no suspicious findings which would have contributed to her death, and we are now in the process of preparing a file for the coroner.
A 60-year-old man arrested in connection with her death has been released with no further action.
Our police presence in the area is now completed, and we’d like to thank everyone locally for their cooperation while we investigated.
We have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the death of a woman in Prial Close, Lincoln.
Our Force Control Room were contacted by EMAS who had responded to a call for assistance for a 51-year-old woman in the early hours of this morning (Monday, 10 March), who was subsequently taken to hospital.
She sadly died in hospital at 11.15am today.
At the moment, we don’t know what caused her death or the broader circumstances of the incident, but we are treating this as suspicious.
A 60-year-old man was initially arrested in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and has been further arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody and will be questioned by detectives.
A Home Office post-mortem examination will be carried out in the coming days, and we will provide a further update once we have more information.
For now, there will remain a heightened police presence at the location and surrounding area as our detectives, local neighbourhood officers, Response and staff from our Crime Scene Investigation team work to establish what has happened over the next few days.
This is incident 27 of 10 March.
