We are deeply saddened to report that the 20-month-old boy injured in this collision has died.
He died in hospital at 1.19am this morning (Friday, 21 March). His family is being supported by specially-trained officers.
A 31-year-old man arrested in connection with this collision has been released on police bail, and our investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision which has left a 20-month-old boy with life-threatening injuries.
The collision involved three vehicles – a white Audi, a silver Kia Ceed, and a black Volkswagen Passat – and took place close to the Holdingham roundabout at Sleaford on the A17 at around 4.45pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 19 March).
A 20-month-old boy, has suffered life-threatening injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being airlifted to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Other people involved in the collision suffered minor injuries.
Initial investigations were carried out while the road remained closed until 2.30am this morning. A 31-year-old man who was the driver of the VW Passat has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and remains in police custody where he will be questioned by our investigators.
