We are saddened to report that a 56-year-old man involved in an alleged assault in Skegness last week has died.
He had been receiving treatment in hospital since the incident on Thursday, 3 July, and died yesterday (Sunday 6 July).
He has been named as Sean Howson, and his next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.
We are now treating this as a homicide investigation which is being led by detectives in our Major Crime Unit. It is ongoing.
A man charged with GBH in connection with this incident remains in custody and has appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court today (Monday, 7 July) where he was remanded into custody for a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on 4 August.

We have charged a 19-year-old man with GBH following an assault in Skegness.
He was charged just after 10.30pm this evening (5 July).
Aston Harris, of Uffington Avenue, Lincoln, has been charged with a Section 18 GBH and has been remanded for a hearing at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7 July.
We are on scene in Skegness today following a report of a serious assault of a man in his 50s.
Our force control room received a report at 8.26pm last night (Thursday, 3 July*) that a man had been assaulted at a property in Albany Road.
Officers were immediately dispatched and found a man with serious injuries and gave initial treatment before handing over to EMAS paramedics. He was then taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH in the early hours of this morning and remains in police custody where he will be questioned by detectives.
We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
We will remain on scene and in the surrounding area today conducting initial enquiries. This will include specialist forensics investigators as well as our detectives and local officers.
