We’ve been cracking down on traffic offences in the Stamford area. Working closely with the Community Speedwatch volunteers, officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and Special Constables targeted areas in the town which had been flagged as hotspot locations for offending.
The day of action was not just about enforcement; it was also a chance to educate drivers on issues that make them less safe on the road, conduct tyre safety checks in preparation for the winter months, as well being an opportunity for Specials to gain more experience in conducting roadside stops and issuing tickets.
The results were as follows:
X61 vehicles stopped
x50 TOR excess speed
x2 summons for excess speed
x1 summons excess speed, no ins, no license
x1 summons excess speed, no MOT, no tax, ins
x2 SOCAP
x1 traffic offence report for insecure load
x3 x1 traffic offence report for not wearing a seatbelt
x1 traffic offence report for illegal tint
x1 Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme' (VDRS) for a defective tyre – and VDRS gives police the power to allow you to fix a minor vehicle defect instead of a prosecution, and you must repair the defect and get the vehicle inspected by an approved garage.
x1 negative drug wipe
x4 negative breath test
We’ll be out again, tackling the issues that make our roads less safe, and that we know matter to you #SafeDriving
