A dispersal order has been issued on the Tower Estate in Lincoln, following reports of unauthorised bonfires being set and items being thrown at police.
We received reports at 8.17pm that a fire had been started on the area behind Tower Avenue in Lincoln and there were concerns about public safety as a result. The Fire Service attended and helped manage the fire, and local Neighbourhood Policing Teams also responded to assist, during which time items such as eggs and beer cans were thrown at officers.
A dispersal order has now been issued, from 8.40pm tonight (Tuesday 5 November) to 7am tomorrow (Wednesday 6 November) to cover the Tower Crescent play park and surrounding area.
This prevents groups of people gathering in a specific area and gives our officers the power to exclude individuals from an area for up to 48 hours - anyone who doesn't comply could be arrested and prosecuted. Furthermore, a police officer or PCSO can direct the person to surrender any item in the person's possession or control that the constable reasonably believes has been used or is likely to be used in behaviour that harasses, alarms or distresses members of the public.
Officers will be making patrols of the area to ensure the order is complied with.
