It was the strong smell of cannabis and his demeanour that alerted officers to the 37-year-old man as he was driving a vehicle along South Street, Boston on Tuesday 21 May. Officers from the Intelligence Unit then identified him as a disqualified driver. He was stopped and a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a large bag of cannabis in the boot of his car, along with a substantial amount of cash. He then failed a drugs wipe conducted at the side of the road.
He was arrested for drug driving, driving while disqualified and possession of a class B drug with intent to supply, possession of a class A drug, as well as driving without insurance.
A search of his home address revealed further drugs including a cannabis grow. A 21 year-old woman was also arrested at the address for possession of class A and production of a controlled drug.
Officers saw another vehicle that appeared to be linked to this incident. It was also stopped, and cannabis was also found in that vehicle with a large amount of cash. The 32 year-old man driving that vehicle was also arrested for possession of Cannabis and drug driving.
All three have been bailed with conditions, pending further inquiries.
Of the arrests made, Sgt Simon Watson said: “This was an excellent job, highlighting the collaboration between our Traffic, Response, Response Investigation and Intelligence teams. It’s also testimony as to how robust and ever-increasing the intelligence is across our towns and county, and how much we value our community’s contribution toward this. We are determined to minimise the pernicious impact that drugs have on our community. We work tirelessly to listen to your intelligence, to respond to concerns raised by our community wherever our resourcing permits, and we will do everything we can to ensure that Lincolnshire is the safest place to live, work and visit”.
