Officers have carried out warrants at five properties in Lincoln following concerns raised by the community.
Over the course of the last 12 months we received multiple reports and other pieces of intelligence from residents in the Brant Road, Bracebridge Lowfields, and Stamp End areas of the city about drug-related crime.
Following investigations by intelligence officers, we identified five addresses to target and conducted warrants in Sperrin Close, Boundary Street, Manby Street, Bentick Square, and Lytton Street.
The warrants were carried out on Thursday 29 February by officers from our Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), our proactive team, the Tactical Support Team (TST), and out Digital Forensics Unit (DFU).
Once we gained entry, the dog unit was brought in to assist the searches of the properties, and detectives from CID are now following up on more lines of enquiry with help from the digital investigations team.
During searches we seized drugs and other items.
The operation also involved officers from the Met's Op Orochi team.
Six people have been arrested in connection with Class A drugs offences. A 24-year-old man was arrested at the property in Sperrin Close, a 28-year-old man was arrested at Mere Road, Branston, and a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested at the property in Boundary Street. They were all arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and released on police bail with conditions to contact specific people in person, by phone, or via social media.
A 30-year-old man was also arrested at Manby Street, and a 20-year-old man arrested following the warrant at Bentick Square, both on suspicion of the same offences, and were released on police bail with conditions not to contact specific people, including via social media or a third party.
We take concerns raised by our community about crime in their area very seriously, and this week’s enforcement shows that we will act when we have the intelligence and reports to build a broader picture of an issue.
Please report suspected crime in your area via 101, online, or by calling 999 if a crime is in progress. Any piece of information, no matter how small, can help us to understand where we need to target resources to keep our community safe.
