This week, we join forces up and down the country to mark Response Policing Week of Action – a time to celebrate the remarkable work of response policing and those who work within it.
The role of a Response Officer is immensely varied. The incidents they face can be unknown and highly unpredictable, which means they need to be able to respond to complex situations on a daily basis.
It can be physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding. This week of action, which runs from Monday 24 June to Sunday 30 June, serves to acknowledge and recognise the work that Response Police Officers do day in day out to serve their communities.
Superintendent Phil Baker said: “In Lincolnshire, every officer, from the Chief Constable down started their careers as a response officer. It is the bedrock of policing across the county. I certainly remember my time on response with great fondness, but I also recognise that the role is now more complicated and challenging then when I was responding in a Ford Escort!
“Every day, I am impressed by the hard work and dedication of the response officers across the force who are first on the scene helping the public, who are often at a point of crisis in their life. They do amazing things often going above and beyond to help. This week is another step in recognising that, whilst also demonstrating to the public so they understand the truly great officers they have serving them across the country.”
As part of Response Policing Week, we’re sharing content to showcase our officers, their stories, and motivations in doing the job.
I love coming to work every day knowing I’m making a positive difference to people’s lives.
PC Szeluk was nominated for the Response Officer of the Year award.
She is known by her colleagues as someone who provides a high-quality service to the public, is extremely dedicated and committed to her role as a Response Officer.
I’ve been working as a Response Officer since September 2023. You truly never know what the day is going to bring and that’s the most unique part about the job.
I may be a Lincolnshire-based officer, but this job can take you anywhere, placing you in situations you could have never imagined yourself in and getting involved in opportunities you never even knew existed. I really couldn’t think of doing anything else.
I have been a Response officer for a little over three years now. To me, the most unique part about the job as a Response officer is that no day is the same and you never know what the next job will be.
I joined Lincolnshire Police as a Special Constable back in 2022, as I have always wanted to be in the police and thought it would be great to get an insight first. I joined as a Police Constable last year, and it is the best decision I have made by far, being on Response in Skegness.
I enjoy helping people on a daily basis and how different everyday is.
