RTC – Gainsborough Road, Middle Rasen

UPDATE: Monday, 15 July - 12.25pm:

Kevin Martin, 46, of Heron Way, Balderton, Newark, has been charged with the following offences:

• Drunk and disorderly in a public place
• Criminal damage to a property – value over £5,000
• Drive a vehicle on a road/in a public place without due care and attention
• Fail to stop after a road traffic collision
• Fail to provide specimen for analysis

He has been bailed with conditions until he appears at court on 1 August.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

Shortly after midnight officers were deployed to a collision on Gainsborough Road, Middle Rasen, where a car had collided with a house causing significant damage.

The driver and only occupant of the car was reported to have fled the scene.  Officers searching the area with a drone located a 46-year-old man in a field around 400m away.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving over the legal alcohol limit and being drunk and disorderly; he remains in custody. Thankfully no-one has been seriously injured.

The collision caused significant damage to the structure of the house.
