Man jailed for nearly four years over sex offences in Spalding

A man has been jailed for nearly four years after being found guilty of intentional suffocation, strangulation and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Zbigniew Kaczmarek of Carrington Road in Spalding was sentenced on Friday, 13 December after a trial at Lincoln Crown Court.

The 51-year-old committed the three offences, which took place in the town last December, against a single victim.

He was jailed three years and 10 months with time on remand deducted from his total. He was also handed a restraining order for 10 years and will be deported.

Detective Constable Charlotte Howitt paid tribute to Kaczmarek’s victim for their bravery while warning other would-be perpetrators that similar behaviour would see them behind bars.

She said: “Kaczmarek’s behaviour was unacceptable and dehumanising, showing total disregard for the victim and their rights.

“This will not be tolerated in our county, and we will pursue all lines of enquiry available to us to bring people like Kaczmarek to justice.

“I hope that this sentence gives his victim some sense of closure and I’d like to pay tribute to their bravery in coming forward and helping us with our investigation.

“The result today is a culmination of the hard work and determination of many people. Without them, we wouldn’t be here.”
