The arrested man has been granted conditional bail and investigations are ongoing.
Firearms officers attended Carrington Drive, Lincoln, earlier this afternoon following a call reporting that a man was carrying an axe.
The officers attended within minutes of the call, which was received at 3.06pm. Following a search of a nearby house, a man was arrested on suspicion of affray. He is currently in custody.
Hartsholme Academy was advised not to let its pupils or staff leave during the incident, to protect their safety. Our officers have been in regular contact with the school, and pupils have now been allowed to leave.
The incident is not believed to have any link to the school.
