Bradley Oates, aged 37, of Chapel Road, Old Leake, was sentenced at court last week (17 April) for driving whilst unfit through drugs.
Oates, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was disqualified from driving for four years and four months, and ordered to pay £500 victim compensation, a £200 fine, and an £80 victim surcharge
The head-on collision, caused by Oates, happened on the on the A52 at Wainfleet on 2 July 2023. The scene was attended by Police, EMAS and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, with a man injured described as “lucky to be alive”.
Test showed that Oates had used heroin, cocaine and methadone at some point prior to sampling.
The Officer in Charge of the case, PC Chris Hearn, said, “This was a serious case and the result in court reflects this with a substantial driving ban. I hope this is a warning to those that use drugs and then drive.”
Drink/Drug driving is one of five fatal behaviours that Lincolnshire Police focus and engage on throughout the year.
