Appeal: investigation in to sexually inappropriate comments and behaviour, Lincoln

We are appealing for witnesses, information, and footage which might help our investigation into several reports of women and girls in Lincoln being approached by a man who has made sexual comments and in some cases, assaulted them by touching.

On one occasion, a woman reported that a man approached her in St Marks and whispered a sexualised comment in her ear, stroked her arm, and made further sexualised comment when she moved away and followed her for a short time.

He was described as white, around 5ft 6 inches tall with a medium build, grey hair, blue eyes, and wearing thin-framed glasses.

Another report of a man matching the description came from two women who reported he made sexual comments to them in High Street, Lincoln. One also reported that he hugged her without her consent.

Both of these incidents took place on 19 April. Officers are taking these reports very seriously and have been following a number of lines of enquiry since then, and now hope that an appeal to the public can provide further assistance.

We understand that there may be information about these offences being shared on a local social media page, and that some of that information may be helpful to our investigation.

We are asking for anyone with information which might help us with our investigation to come forward with what they know.

As part of our enquiries, we have arrested a 57-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault by touching. He remains in police custody where he will be questions by officers.
