We are appealing for help from the community after a woman in her 70s was assaulted in Lincoln Road, North Hykeham yesterday (Wednesday, 13 September).
The woman reported being approached by a man she did not know at the junction with Elizabeth Avenue at around 12.20pm who struck her in the body, knocking her to the floor. She also reported being verbally assaulted.
The man was described as being in his 50’s between 5ft 10 and 6ft tall, with short grey hair, and was wearing blue jeans and a dark coloured jacket, and light coloured trainers.
She was left with bruising to her arm and is very shaken by the incident. Officers deployed to the incident arrested a 61-year-old man a short time later on suspicion of assault in connection with this incident. He has been released on bail while we continue our enquiries.
Now we need your help.
This happened in a very busy road in the middle of the day and we believe that there will be people who might have witnessed this or have information which could help our investigation who we have not yet spoken with.
We are keen to view any dashcam footage from people who were in the Lincoln Road and surrounding streets between 12.20pm and 12.30pm and may have captured either the incident itself or the suspect as described.
Often, you might not realise that the information you have is important, or you might not have reported it as you may think that someone else will have done so.
Right now, we are asking for anything that might help, no matter how small you think it is; please share what you have and allow us to determine if it might help our investigation.
If you can help, please contact us in the following ways:
