The drone footage shows officers locating a driver who ran from his van after failing to stop for officers. The thermal image in the footage shows officers being guided towards the man who had tried to hide in a bushed area near Crofton Close, Lincoln.
The 31-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody. Officers could smell alcohol on his breath. He refused to provide a specimen of breath and during his time in custody damaged a cell.
Ashley Howitt, Jellicoe Avenue, Lincoln, was charged with failing to stop, failing to provide a breath test and causing damage to the cell. He pleaded guilty to the offences at Lincoln Magistrates Court on 27 October. He was disqualified from driving for three years, fined £150, and must pay compensation of £50 with £370 costs.
Keeping our roads safe and reducing the number of people who are seriously injured or killed will always be a focus for our officers.
