As part of our series celebrating Volunteers Week, we spoke to Willow Van Landghem who is a Cadet Leader at Louth.
The Cadets is a uniformed service open to teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18. Willow has been with the Cadets for six years and recently became a Leader.
“I’ve always had a passion to be in the police, and I’ve got such an interest in it,” she said. “Being part of the Cadets gives an idea of what policing is – recently we’ve looked at the Code of Conduct, had lessons in the phonetic alphabet and are looking to organise some marshalling at local events in Louth.
“Some who join the Cadets want a career in policing but others join because it gives them confidence. I have really come out of my shell since joining and it has made a big difference.”
Louth is one of seven locations across the county for our Police Cadet Corps. Recruitment is still open for our bases at Louth, Spalding, Grantham and Bourne.
