Huge thanks to community for removing fallen trees from roads

We would like to offer a huge thank you to farmers, tree surgeons and members of the community who have so far helped chop and move fallen trees from our roads.
Our Force Control Room has received many calls today, Thursday, 21 December, in relation to trees blocking roads after they were ripped out of the ground by the wind.
Lincolnshire Police officers and staff have been working with Lincolnshire Highways to try and keep the road network clear, and some members of the public have taken it upon themselves to help out - showing that not all heroes wear capes!
East Response Inspector Ian Cotton said: “We have had trees down all over the county today due to high winds. What has become obvious is that without the generosity of some farmers and local tree surgeons many roads would have been closed for long periods.
“We’ve managed to re-open many roads due to their generosity and this is a true reflection of community festive spirit.”
The weather warning for wind remains in place until 3pm.
