A three-month closure order has been placed on a property in Sibthorpe Court, Sleaford following repeated calls around a variety of offences at the address.
The order has been issued to the tenant of the flat and prohibits him from having anyone other than himself in the property for the next three months.
Incidents included a report that the suspect in a rape allegation, who was not the tenant, had been seen at the address and was subsequently arrested after officers attended the property. The allegation relates to an incident at a different address and the person arrested has been subsequently bailed with conditions not to return to Lincolnshire.
During that visit, officers were also alerted to a 15-year-old boy at risk of exploitation by suspected County Lines gangs who had been attending the property. Following a further visit by officers on Monday last week, the 15-year-old boy previously highlighted to officers was again found there. He was taken back to his parents’ house, who thought he had been with a friend.
In total over the last few days, three people have been arrested from that flat for various offences.
The order was a joint effort between officers in the Sleaford Neighbourhood Policing Team and North Kesteven District Council to combat suspected criminal activity.
The order notice now has to be displayed in poster format around the building in all communal areas. Any breaches should be reported to police, which can be done quickly via our website or via 101 – always call 999 in an emergency.
If we attend and find that the order is being breached, both the tenant and the guest could be arrested.
PC Martin Derbyshire said: “We had repeated calls to the property, and members of the community had also voiced their concern to North Kesteven District Council around the tenant and constant comings and goings. We have gathered evidence of activities and attended Lincoln Magistrates’ Court (on Friday 4 August). We’ll keeping a close watch on the property over the next three months.”
North Kesteven District Council Executive Councillor for Communities Councillor Sally Tarry said: “The closure order was applied for together with Lincolnshire Police following complaints received around frequent visitors to the property combined with concerning behaviour which occurred during these visits. It has also followed some previous work by our team on antisocial behaviour linked to the property.
“We’re pleased to have this sanction in place now from the courts and will continue to work together with Lincolnshire Police and in support of our residents in the area, including monitoring of the property during the closure order by our teams.
“I’d urge anyone in North Kesteven who is being affected by antisocial behaviour to report it, with as much detail as they can give, and especially to contact Lincolnshire Police on the non-emergency 101 number or website if they believe what could be criminal offences are taking place.”
