Hundreds attend 999 emergency services day

Our 999 Emergency Services Day, held in Skegness, allowed residents and visitors a chance to talk to us and find out more about what we do.

Hundreds of visitors attended the 999 Day, which was held in Tower Gardens in Skegness on 16 August to showcase some of our force’s priority areas such as our Rural Crime Action Team and Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.

Officers also attended in marked and unmarked vehicles along with cadets and members of our local neighbourhood policing team who provided visitors with crime prevention advice, caravan security information, an insight into our drone assistance and sea safety.

The day formed part of our Operation Atlantis and our Summertime Policing Plan to ensure the coast is a safe place for visitors and residents. Operation Atlantis is a joint partnership approach to keeping the coast safe by working with the local councils and the RNLI.

PCSO Michelle Collins said: “This was a really enjoyable day, had by many. Residents and visitors attended and were really interested in being given an insight into what we do as a force. It was also an opportunity for us to talk to people about what’s important to them in terms of policing, and the chance to listen to our communities is always something we appreciate and find useful.

“Lots of people were fascinated by the drones and finding out how they assist us with our operations. There was also much excitement when our motorbike officers attended.

“I would like to thank everyone who attended and for making the day a success.”
