We have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug (Class B) and suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug (class B).
While conducting a search of a boat moored in Brayford Wharf East as part of an ongoing investigation, we discovered a grenade which was later determined to be decommissioned. During the search, we also seized drug-related paraphernalia, a baton, and a machete.
The man has been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.
The EOD team have attended and the suspected grenade is not live, so the area is safe. We are lifting the cordons and thank everyone for their help and patience while we dealt with this incident.
We are on scene at the Brayford Pool after what may be a grenade has been found.
As a precautionary measure, a 100mt cordon has been put in place while specialist officers deal with the incident.
This cordon affects part of Brayford Wharf North and the university campus. Please avoid the area.
Further updates when we have them. Incident 459 of 8 June relates.
