Update at 13.30, 9 September: The eastern bypass is now open. Thank you to road users for your patience and cooperation. We continue to investigate this tragic incident.
Previously released: We are saddened to report that a 28-year-old woman has died in a collision involving a van and a car.
The woman was travelling in the car on the A15 Eastern bypass between the Branston and Bracebridge Heath roundabouts at around 4.30am this morning (3rd September), when her vehicle was in collision with a van.
There were not other occupants in either vehicle and no other injuries reported. Her immediate next of kin has been informed.
The road is expected to remain closed in both directions until around lunchtime while we carry out our initial investigations, and we ask people to avoid the route.
We are now working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and we would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and might have dashcam footage of the incident to contact us as soon as possible.
