Serious assault, Lincoln

Update 11.30am May 21

We can confirm the man who died following this incident at University Bridge in Lincoln was David Turner, aged 50.

We are continuing our appeal for any witnesses to contact us on 101.

The family have asked for the media to respect their privacy and not to make contact with them.

 

Update May 20 

We can confirm a 50-year-old man who was taken to hospital on Monday with a head injury died on Tuesday 19th May.

We are treating the death as unexplained and have arrested and bailed a 38-year-old man in connection with this incident that took place on Saturday 16th May near the University Bridge in Lincoln.

Officers are also supporting the family of this man during this difficult time.

We are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area between 11pm and midnight on Saturday 16th May.

We are investigating a serious assault near the University Bridge in Lincoln.

At 11.45pm on Saturday 16 May we received a report that man was found with a head injury near the University Bridge on Brayford Way following an assault. The man in his 50s had a serious head injury and was later taken to hospital where he remains.

We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this man or witnessed what happened to him to contact us.
