Update at 3.00pm, September 6:
Following our Police investigation we can confirm that we have found no suspicious circumstances. The matter will now be passed to the coroner. The Fire and Rescue investigation is ongoing.
Update at 10.30am, September 3: Joint-statement from Lincolnshire Police and Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue:
From our initial investigations and evidence-gathering, we do not believe that there were any suspicious circumstances around this incident. However, we will now await forensic testing and results of the post mortem which is due to take place tomorrow, before we are able to make a firm determination about the cause and circumstances around the fire.
Fire staff will be visiting residents in the area over the coming week to offer support, reassurance and fire safety advice.
Update at 4.30pm, September 2: A 39 year old man has been confirmed deceased following this morning’s fire. There were no other reported injuries. We are currently investigating with Fire and Rescue to establish the cause. Anyone with information is urged to call 101.
Original release at 9.50am, September 2: Following a fire at St Hughs Street in Lincoln we have closed the road.
Diversions are in place but this is causing delays so please avoid the Monks Road area if possible.
The fire was reported to us at just after 9 am this morning. A scene guard is in place to allow an investigation to take place.
