Serious assault in Boston

UPDATE: Friday 10th May

A murder investigation has been launched after a man, Darren Birks, 40, from the local area died following an assault in Boston on 29th April at 9.45 pm. Darren was taken to hospital where he has since sadly died.

Cole Newark was arrested and charged in connection with the assault. Newark, 20, of Witham Bank West in Boston has been remanded in custody following a court hearing at Lincoln Magistrate’s Court on May 3rd.

Detective Chief Inspector Karl Whiffen from East Midlands Special Operation Unit says:  

“First and foremost I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones. This is now a murder investigation and our aim is to establish an accurate picture of what has occurred. I would ask people who have information, or who have witnessed the assault to get in touch with Lincolnshire Police. If you were in the Ingram Road area at 9:45 PM on the 29th April then please contact us.”

 

 

UPDATE - Friday 3rd May 

Cole Newark, 20, of Witham Bank West in Boston has been charged with GBH with intent. He has been remanded to appear at Lincoln Magistrates' Court today, Friday 3rd May. 

We continue our appeal for witnesses to the incident in Ingram Road, Boston, in which a man was seriously assaulted. He remains in hospital in critical condition.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and is being questioned by officers.

Police are investigating a serious assault which occurred in Ingram Road, Boston, near to the junction of Shaw Road around 9.45pm on Monday 29th April.

The victim, a man, is currently in hospital in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for any witnesses that were in this area around this time to make contact with the investigators by calling 101, quoting incident 461 29/04.

They are also asking anyone who may have been travelling through this area with a Dash cam in their vehicle to make contact.
