INC 456 of 23rd December
Emergency services were called to the area of High Street, Boston about 2145 last evening (Monday 23rd December) where it was reported that a man, believed to be in his thirties, had fallen into the River Haven. A search on the river by the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue boat and along the river bank took place as well as the use of our drone and the regional police helicopter - both fitted with heat seeking equipment. The search of the river itself has now been called off (0100 24th December) until daylight but ground searches along the river will continue through the night. We are trying to establish the identity of the man and anyone with information is asked to call 101.
Update as of 11am:
We can confirm that the man is 33-years-old and he is believed to have jumped into the river which had a very strong current last night.
Police are continuing to search today using drones and the fire service is continuing to support.
Chief Inspector James Trafford says: “The emergency services and Coastguard agency carried out extensive searches last night to locate this man and these efforts have started again today.
“We do not yet know why this man has decided to jump into the river, but we are working to understand why this happened.
“If anyone has information which may help us, please get in touch.”
