32-year-old charged with attacks in prisons

A 32-year-old inmate has been charged with a number of assaults after attacks at three prisons.

Aklakur Rahman, originally from Ipswich in Surrey, appeared via video link before Lincoln magistrates yesterday (Wednesday 19 December 2018).

He is accused of three counts of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of committing attempted grievous bodily harm in relation to the following incidents:

 

  • Member of prison staff and inmate injured at HMP Wayland, near Thetford, in July 2017.
  • Member of prison staff injured at HMP Lincoln in July 2017.
  • Member of prison staff injured at HMP Wakefield in August 2017.

Mr Rahman was bailed until his next appearance at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday 21 January 2019.

Officers have been working closely with the Ministry of Justice as part of their enquiries.
