Alan Wood Murder

On Saturday 24 October 2009, Alan Wood was found brutally murdered in his home, located in a small village called Lound which is approximately 16 miles north of Peterborough. A large team of detectives was assembled by Lincolnshire Police and a murder investigation was launched.

His hands had been bound with sellotape and he had been stabbed repeatedly in the head. Detectives think these wounds were inflicted to torture Alan, possibly to give up his bank card pin numbers. Alan's throat was then cut - the fatal injury. It is believed that the most disturbing element of the attack came after Alan's death - a deep wound to the back of his neck suggested an attempted decapitation.

October 2019 will mark the 10th anniversary of the murder and Lincolnshire Police and their colleagues from East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) are appealing for your assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible, as beyond a possible financial motive, it is still not known why the most disturbing crime in Lincolnshire’s recent history was committed.

Many people from various different nationalities and communities lived and worked in the area and it may be that someone from within these communities has information that will help bring the guilty party to justice and provide answers to Alan’s family as to why the murder happened. It may be that some of these people have since returned to their home countries.

Lincolnshire Police and EMSOU remain committed to identifying who killed Alan and invite you to look at the following pages which contain information about Alan, what we know about the suspect, the details of a substantial cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible and details of how you can contact us if you have information.
