1. How many incidents of disability hate crime during 2020/21 and 2021/22 financial years were recorded as also being linked to other protected characteristics like race, gender, or sexual orientation?
This report extracted all incidents from our Command & Control System searching for Hate Crime Incidents where the Sub classifications Description states “Prejudice” for financial years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022.
“Disability” Hate Crime Incidents we filtered and Counted where any of the other 4 strands or “protected characteristics” were included in the incident. We record hate incidents according to the five strands defined by The College of Policing:
Disability
Racial
Religion
Sexual orientation
Transgender

Please also be aware that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data.
