Alan was appointed a member of the Independent Advisory Group in 2018.
Born into an RAF family, Alan was educated in Lincolnshire before joining the Royal Navy in 1977 serving all over the world both in ships and flying with the Fleet Air Arm. He has lived in Lincolnshire since retiring from the Navy in 2014 and now works for the Ministry of Defence.
Married with 2 grown children and 2 beautiful cockapoos, Alan is kept busy providing computer and technology advice to his local community through a charity called Barrowby Helping Hands. When not at work or fixing laptops, Alan is a passionate motorcyclist, exploring the lesser travelled roads of Lincolnshire and beyond.
