Cadets - An Introduction
Who we are
The cadets are is a scheme ran by lincolnshire police for people aged 14-18 who want to obtain a wider knowledge of the police and themselves.
What we do
The cadets do a varied amount of things they usual meet every week at their local police station and cover things like law, Drill, RTCs, the police, expedition skills, first aid and more.
Where and when
Cadet corps are situated throughout the county: -
- Bourne
- Boston
- Grantham
- Lincoln
- Louth
All corps have a regular meeting on a Wednesday night, but cadets are often involved in projects at other times as well.
Events
The cadets do different events for different people and organisations, the main events that the cadets do are; remembrance parade, comic relief, children in need and other charities, most corps will do a mayor making ceremony, some cadet corps will help in carnivals by doing traffic control and crowd control.
Attachment
Most cadets will go out on attachment with a police officer, which is where they spend a day with a local officer on patrol on foot or in car, you have to be 16 to do this and it has to be cleared by your liaison officer but once all that it is done then you are free to spend some time with a police officer.
County seminar
Once a year cadets from all over the county will meet up for a cadet county seminar. Which is held on a weekend and over that weekend you will be doing different teamwork orientated, these tasks include; RTC scenarios, general policing scenarios (such as stop and search and theft), map reading, observation and quizzes.
At nighttime there would be a disco for you to relax and boogie.
On the Sunday there will be a drill display in front of your parents and a presentation by the chief constable.
