The Scientific Support Department provides forensic science for Lincolnshire Police.
Our services include:
- DNA - The Department provides DNA services to the force; this includes DNA recovered from Crime Scenes and a Lincolnshire portion of the DNA database.
- Fingerprints - The department provides fingerprint analysis to the force. The fingerprint bureau, the Lincolnshire portion of the National Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), Livescan, fingerprint expertise and equipment for Scene's of Crime Officers.
- Photography - The department provides photography services for the force, all crime scene photography, prisoner photographs and production of albums for court.
- Other Forensic - The department provides all other forensic services to the force including footwear, fibre, drug, glass, handwriting analysis and any other forensic techniques.
- SOCO's - The department has functional responsibility for the Scene's of Crime Officers (SOCOs), the scientific aspects of their work, performance management, skills, equipment and training.
