Roads Policing

Police Officers on motorcycles

The Roads Policing Unit provides patrols on the roads throughout the county. The Unit has bases at Lincoln, Louth, Grantham and Boston. There are more than 70 Roads Policing officers who have many roles including:

  • providing 24 hour firearms support throughout the county
  • attending and dealing with all serious and fatal road collisions
  • to make the roads of Lincolnshire safer through education and prosecuting people who break the law

The vehicles used by the Roads Policing Unit are Vauxhall Omegas and BMW 530D Estate Cars, supplemented by Land Rover Discoveries & Honda Pan European motorcycles.

Collision Investigation

An accident is defined as an event without an apparent cause. All accidents or collisions have a cause which is usually tracked down to driver error. It is the job of this specialist team to determine the cause of all fatal & serious collisions.

Vehicle Investigation

Vehicle Investigation not only involves the checking of vehicles for roadworthiness but also the identity of the vehicle and its origins in order to target vehicle crime. A vehicle being investigated after an accident.


Lincolnshire Ambucopter

Very often at the scenes of bad road accidents, patients have to be taken to hospital very quickly. Our Medics often request use of the Ambucopter via Ambulance Control.
