15/03/2010 - Continued Vehicle Crime - Warning To Motorists in Grantham Area

Police are warning motorists in the Grantham area to lock their cars and not to leave property in them after more thefts from vehicles.

Thieves got into an unlocked Renault Laguna in Warwick Close, Grantham, between 12.30am and 9am on March 13. They stole a Sony laptop worth about £700 and a digital camera. Criminals also got into an unlocked silver Ford Mondeo in Durham Close, Grantham, between 10pm on March 12 and 9.10am the following morning. They tried to steal the stereo and searched through the car, but it is not believed anything was taken.

South Kesteven (South) Neighbourhood Policing Area Inspector Nigel Storey said: "This is an ongoing problem in the town at the moment, but people can make sure they drastically reduce their chances of becoming a victim by locking their cars and not leaving anything of value in them when they're away from them."
